Rose has re-emerged from chemo hell and is bright and breezy once again - so relieved to see signs of life, hunger and temper! Brings with it lots of shouting and fury at how frustrated she is but that is so much better than when she withdraws and feels too ill to care - the exercises are still the worst bit of the day (for all of us!) and roll round far too frequently. It has been an unrelaxing few days of temperature-taking waiting for the spike that means we have to go straight in to hospital but so far so good although we have taken Rose in to Kings to the ward there to have a look round and meet the team there who will look after her when she is not at the Marsden. Really nice so if we have to go in this weekend for the fever or a transfusion think she will be okay about it.
After promising to let us do it for days and then screaming the house down each time we tried today we finally got the dressing off her wound and it looks GREAT what fantastic needlework - she has refused to let me photograph it today as she doesn't want to look at it yet but I'll keep trying! It's pretty long but one neat line and will fade to even less - it's got a few steri-strips still stuck firmly on which I'm not looking forward to trying to get off but there was no way she was going to let us try that today...might try and persuade the district nurses to do that one and go to the end of the garden.
Pic is of Rose in her UCH wig with latest addition to her zoo - all the way from Norway from colleagues of Simon comes Helgar the elk to keep the equally ENORMOUS bear from the Paris office company!
Felix has gone away to the Isle of Wight for the weekend to play - guess what - more cricket and has had the best week of the holidays so far playing in a five day cricket festival for Surrey District which he has absolutely loved - pics of him he took of himself to get a walk-on role on Rose's blog!
