The new leg!

Thought these pictures of Rose's metal leg might be interesting as it is so hard to describe what is going on inside something that looks so normal from the outside! Her leg is proving very troublesome this week as she doesn't seem to be able to get it straight any more although she definitely has managed it before so we are constantly giving her a hard time to do her exercises and loosen it up. We have been told by Stanmore and the physios that it's really important to get it moving and working now or when she is allowed to weight bear on it she won't be able to walk with it - but all that is hard for her to understand and she is feeling sick and dreadful still after last week's round of chemo so the day is a long cycle of tears and nagging! She just wants us to go away so she can fall asleep in front of cbeebies...she says it really hurts her to straighten it and I believe her.

We all feel a bit like we are living in a Rose bubble at the moment - the sun is shining and the world has gone on holiday but the day is still broken down into minute segments of caring for Rose and taking and making endless calls from district nurses, physios, occupational therapists, dieticians etc. Felix is playing in a cricket festival this week so he is having a great time and thankfully a bit of normality comes home with him every night - thank god for him really or we would all surely go mad. Rose is very withdrawn and ill this week and it's so worrying - all normal after effects of a horrible medicine I'm sure but it doesn't seem to have hit her this hard before and she's not eating at all so we are having to feed her through her gastric feeding tube which we had hoped to only use in hospital. She is a barely-there white waif this week and I need her to come back to life and rant and rave about how rubbish she's feeling! Keep trying to get her to dictate a message for the blog to her adoring fans but so far not feeling up to it - I will keep trying but in the meantime she sends big love and hugs xxx
