And still in Kings...

Very very dull watching our lives ebb away as Rose sits in Kings in solitary splendour with a temperature BORED to bits - lots of antibiotics and now lots of blood as they decided to transfuse her this afternoon. Probably a good idea as she is the colour of the bed sheets so a bit of fresh blood might perk her up a bit!

Bizarre experience being in Kings as everywhere else we have been seems very well equipped with play specialists to keep the children entertained and distracted while gruesome things are being done to them. Absolutely nothing like that in Kings - one of the nurses was saying how sad it was that the play team had left (along with most of the toys including a PS2 and a plasma tv that had been bolted to the wall - good old Camberwell) so it has been like the Marie Celeste in there this week in a tiny cubicle. She's heard all our jokes and didn't think they were very funny five months ago so we haven't raised much of a smile but we smuggled in some germ-free grandparents yesterday for a little visit and that cheered things up a bit! At least when she's having chemo there seems some point to being hospitalised but this is just dull dull dull. So poor marks for in-house entertainment, zero marks for tv facilities, poor marks for housekeeping who couldn't rustle up a pillow for the parent's bed but of course most importantly great doctors and nurses taking super fantastic care of her and the rest is just me moaning!

Off to the Marsden on Friday for her to meet her new oncologist so got to get her out of Kings latest tomorrow really! Despite our best efforts to keep windows open, throw cold water over her and put her in the ward fridge before they take her temperature it is persistently above normal and they are very very strict! Everything crossed for an escape soon...
