Out of Marsden Sunday lunchtime - the weeks have lost their Monday to Friday routine as Rose likes to throw us delays wherever she can with infections and this time the Marsden had a bed shortgage which delayed us by a day. Chemo is given seven days a week there unlike UCH which pretty much closed the ward at weekends apart from saddos like us who were stuck there permanently! So apart from fewer doctors around at the weekend it all runs on just the same - families literally queuing for your bed as you leave it is such a busy unit it's unbelievable. They are constantly juggling beds and it seems delays do happen as a result - we will just have to hope not too often. Back in on Thursday for the same chemo drug again but in the meantime back to Stanmore for a physio assessment tomorrow and St Georges on Wednesday for a heart echo as one of the side effects of the chemo can be damage to the heart so they are very careful to keep monitoring and if anything crops up they will change her drugs...so not much of a break from hospitals or from manouvreing her around from place to place but really relieved that she is going back to Stanmore tomorrow for them to have a proper look at her leg. They are also going to do another x-ray for a post-op check.
Rose developed another hickman line infection at the end of last week so is back on another course of iv antibiotics (how many courses will she have had by the time chemo finishes I dread to think - dozens it feels already!) - it sounds so routine but is so alarming high temperature and sore and hot at the site of the line aaaggghh and always at one o clock in the morning just to make sure maximum chaos is caused on the ward! We are now a few days into the antibiotics and hopefully it is clearing it up - for this week at least...
So not sure what verdict will come our way tomorrow after the physios take a good look at her leg but hoping that they can help us get her back on her feet and that they give her some badly needed courage and confidence to try to straighten it and put some weight down.
